Match Report
Delhi United vs Yuba Sangha FC
Final Score: 3–2

After losing twice to the same opponents over the last two years, our girls finally overcame the mental barrier with a hard-fought victory. More importantly, the team showed maturity, courage, and composure throughout the match.

We started well, circulated the ball confidently, and our positioning in possession looked sharp. Although there were still moments of careless passing, the team remained organised without the ball and reacted well with immediate pressing after losing possession.

All three goals came from excellent through balls. Tejaswini had a superb game, creating the first two goals. Ambika calmly finished the opener and was influential throughout, while Neelam showed great determination to score from the rebound for the second. The third goal was the standout moment of the match — Pooja intercepted a long aerial ball, beat her marker with a Cruyff turn, and played a brilliant pass through three defensive lines for Neelam to finish calmly.

Defensively, the team handled aerial situations better than in previous matches despite a few uncertain moments. The opponents’ opening goal appeared to come from an offside position, while a late second goal reduced the margin and created pressure in the closing stages. Against older opposition, the players competed with good physical intensity and resilience, though improvements are still needed in composure under pressure and during build-up phases.

Overall, this was an important victory for the group — not just because of the result, but because of the character, discipline, and belief the girls displayed against a strong and experienced side.

Man of the match: Neelam
