Standout Performances

2023 November Chronicles of Mrida

Mrida Girl’s Subroto State Champions-Twice

In a remarkable display of skill and determination, our youth football team showcased exceptional growth at the 62nd Subroto Mukherjee Cup, despite the challenge of competing in the under-17 age group with an average age of 14.5. The players exhibited superior technical prowess, unparalleled on-and-off-the-ball movement, and a commitment to our attacking philosophy.

Standout performances from players like Somni, Pooja, and Ambika, coupled with exceptional displays by Manisha and Captain Akansha Narte in the first match, contributed to a fantastic overall team experience. As we address identified weaknesses and nurture our attacking instincts, the team is poised for future success, setting their sights on conquering the competition in the upcoming year. The Subroto Cup has laid the foundation for a promising journey ahead

Meeting the CM of Madhay Prandesh

With five zones, mini-grounds, and 350+ matches, we aim to impact 1500+ children directly. Over the last three years, Mrida has been nurturing young talents through football, and now, we’re taking it to the next level! Covering more than 50 villages/primary schools across Mandla, Dindori, and Annupur districts, we aim to impact over 1500+ children directly.

This initiative will create 5 zones and 5 mini-grounds, hosting 350+ matches over four months. But it doesn’t stop there! After the league, we’ll provide training, scholarships, and camps to help these young stars shine even brighter. Our program is all-inclusive, welcoming both girls and boys, and we’re proud to say that village-level bodies are already championing football in 30 villages.

Parents Teacher Meeting

In October 2023, our school successfully hosted a Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) with active participation from 137 parents. Parents expressed satisfaction with the positive influence our school is having on their children’s future. The PTM yielded suggestions such as proposals for reduced school hours for younger grades, re-introducing uniforms, additional classes to support academically weaker students, and the introduction of quarterly PTMs. From poor turnout at PTMs in 2016 to parents asking for quarterly PTMs, we have indeed come a long way. Parents also appreciated the overall academic progress of their children and expressed satisfaction with the current teaching methodologies.

Mrida's Meal Program

In the month of October, a total of 20,355 meals were served, with 6,258 comprising lunches for both day scholars and hostelers. Beyond the nutritional impact, the meal program has played a pivotal role in fostering regular attendance among students. The provision of daily meals not only ensures the well-being of the children but also serves as an incentive for parents to send their children to school consistently. This has resulted in a notable increase in attendance, with this year’s average attendance reaching an impressive 93% by October, compared to last year’s average of 77% for the same period. This significant boost in attendance, typically seen only during exam days, underscores the positive correlation between proper nutrition, regular attendance, and improved academic performance. The meal program, beyond addressing basic nutritional needs, has become a catalyst for enhancing overall student engagement and success.

Health Update

In 2023, our initiative has positively impacted the lives of 322 children—both girls and boys—providing them with opportunities for growth and development. As we reflect on their journey, it’s evident that many of these young minds have settled into the program with enthusiasm, embracing the chance to learn and thrive. However, the path to progress is not without its challenges. Recently, we encountered an outbreak of skin infections, fevers, and conjunctivitis among some of the children. Several factors contribute to this health challenge: Lack of Sufficient Clothing:The persistent dampness during the monsoons often leaves children without enough dry clothing. This vulnerability exposes them to skin infections as they struggle to maintain proper hygiene. Multipurpose Use of Space:The shared use of spaces for both schooling and as a hostel amplifies the risk of infections. Close quarters and communal areas create an environment conducive to the spread of skin-related issues. Temporary Home Visits: In emergency situations, some children may need to return home for 1-2 days. Unfortunately, this brief absence can result in exposure to infections in their home environment, leading to the inadvertent spread of these health issues upon their return. While the team has swiftly responded to provide medical care and necessary treatments, these health issues underscore the difficulties faced by these youngsters in their daily lives. Whether it’s ensuring an adequate supply of dry clothing, improving sanitation in shared spaces, or implementing preventive measures for children during temporary home visits, our focus remains on creating a healthier and safer environment for 322 children in our care. Yet, in undertaking these efforts, we cannot overemphasize the need for robust infrastructure. The success of our initiatives relies heavily on the foundation of our own facilities. It is with humility and a keen awareness of the challenges ahead that we acknowledge the necessity of a strong infrastructure to sustain and expand our impact.
